  • The U.S. Forest Service administers the forest, being the only tropical rain forest in U.S. territory. It is one of the most diverse and studied in the world.
  • You will experience the magic of this tropical paradise, where you will find over 150 species of ferns and 240 species of trees (88 of them endemic to Puerto Rico and 23 endemic to El Yunque). You will also find orchids, exotic birds and other wildlife, including our national symbol, the Coquí tree frog.
  • El Yunque is located 40 minutes from San Juan. Our first stop in the Rain Forest is the Yokahu observation tower for a panoramic view of the reserve. Photos are a must as you learn about the flora, fauna and history of the place from our knowledgeable guides. Then we hike about 15 minutes to the secret waterfalls, allowing us to avoid the big crowds from hotels and cruise ships.
  • We finish our adventure in a pool area best kept secret. This trail is not shown on maps so most of the time is secluded from the tourist and locals. After a few minutes hike we get to a pristine natural river pool with crystal clear waters were you can take a swim, have a snack, try some local fruit, water and granola.
